Immanuel: God With Us

The Gift of God’s Presence

God Is Closer Than You Think

Isaiah 7:10-14

The prophecy of Isaiah 7:14 declares, “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.” Immanuel means “God with us,” a truth that stands as a cornerstone of our faith. This name assures us that God is not distant or detached but deeply involved in the details of our lives.

Henri Nouwen once wrote, “God came to us because He wanted to join us on the road, to listen to our story, and to help us realize that we are not walking alone.” In Christ, God entered human history to dwell among us, providing a constant reminder of His presence and faithfulness.

Dallas Willard observed, “The with-God life is the most important reality of the universe.” Immanuel invites us to live with this assurance each day. Even in our darkest moments, His nearness offers hope and peace. Richard Foster adds, “We must remind ourselves that we are never alone. Christ is closer to us than our breath.”

Rick Warren reminds us of the practical outworking of this truth: “God is with us in every season, and His presence is the greatest gift of all.” As you end your day, trust in His nearness. Let Immanuel be your source of comfort, peace, and strength.

Short Prayer

Father, thank You for sending Your Son as Immanuel, God with us. As I lay down to rest, help me to trust in Your presence and faithfulness. Let Your nearness bring me peace tonight and every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen
