“Then Jesus said, ‘Come and see.’” — John 1:39
In John 1:35–51, Jesus’ first invitation to His disciples is strikingly simple. When they ask where He is staying, He does not offer a lecture or a set of requirements—He offers Himself. “Come and see,” He says. Discipleship begins not with certainty but with presence. They come, they stay with Him, and in that shared time curiosity deepens into recognition, and recognition into trust.
This gentle invitation reveals how Jesus draws people to Himself. He does not force belief or rush commitment; He welcomes honest questions and unhurried attention. As the disciples remain with Him, Scripture shows their hearts awakening—Andrew brings his brother, Philip invites Nathanael, and testimony spreads through relationship rather than argument. Faith grows as his disciples spend time with Jesus and discover who He truly is.
That same invitation comes to us today. Jesus continues to meet us in ordinary moments, inviting us to draw near through prayer, Scripture, listening, and obedience. He asks us not to have everything figured out, but to be willing to come—to stay close enough for His presence to shape our desires and direction. Wherever He is calling us this week, His words remain an open door: “Come and see.”
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for inviting us into Your presence through Your Son. Help us to listen, to draw near, and to follow where Jesus leads us this week. Amen.
“Whoever says they live in him must walk as Jesus did.”
— 1 John 2:6
