“I have come that they may have life,
and have it to the full.”
John 10:10
There is no greater joy than knowing God—not just knowing about Him, but walking in daily relationship with Him. Jesus, our Good Shepherd, is both the door (Gate - John 10:9) that welcomes us into this relationship and the guide (Shepherd - John 10:14-15) who leads us tenderly through life’s valleys and mountaintops.
His love is not distant or impersonal—it is sacrificial, personal, and overflowing. He calls us by name, knows our deepest needs, and laid down His life so we might live. As the Shepherd of our souls, He leads us into rest, salvation, and security, even when storms surround us.
Ruth’s story reminds us that God honors those who act with integrity, even when the way is uncertain. Her loyalty to Naomi, her humility, and her faithfulness in hardship were not overlooked. God’s kindness flowed through Boaz, and through their union, the lineage of King David ( Ruth 4:13,17) —and ultimately Jesus—was established. Behind each act of courage and kindness, we see the hand of a kind and sovereign God.
So today, let us choose the better portion—to know Him, to listen for His voice, and to follow where He leads. In Jesus, we find not only life, but life to the full ( John 17:3).
Prayer:
Lord, thank you that in you I find rest, salvation, and security. Thank you for being my Good Shepherd and laying down your life for me. Help me to know your voice, follow you, and walk in your fullness today.Amen.
