Our Transformation in Christ
“As was the man of dust, so also are those who are of the dust; and as is the man of heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven.”
—1 Corinthians 15:48-49
We are all born in Adam’s image—frail, broken, and bound to sin and death. We inherit the dust of his nature, experiencing weakness and failure. But Paul reminds us that our final destiny is not in the dust. Through Christ, the “man of heaven,” we are being transformed.
This transformation is both present and future. Even now, the Holy Spirit works within us, conforming us to Christ’s image (2 Corinthians 3:18). And one day, in the resurrection, we will be fully glorified, free from sin and decay (Philippians 3:20-21). C.S. Lewis writes, “God became man to turn creatures into sons… to produce a new kind of man.”
This truth gives us hope. Though we struggle, we are being remade. The dust will not define us forever. We live with humility in our weakness, but also with confidence, knowing that God’s work in us will be completed.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the promise of transformation. Though I am weak, You are making me new. Help me to walk in faith, trusting that one day I will fully bear Christ’s image. Strengthen me to live with hope, reflecting Your glory even now. Amen.
