The Power of a Simple Gift
Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have,
but what I do have I give you.
In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.
Acts 3:6
Peter and John were on their way to the temple for prayer when they encountered a man who had been lame from birth. Carried daily to the gate called Beautiful, he begged for money, hoping for generosity. But what he received was something far greater. Peter looked at him and said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you.” Then, invoking the name of Jesus, he commanded the man to walk.
In that instant, the man’s feet and ankles were strengthened. He jumped up, walked for the first time in his life, and entered the temple courts walking, leaping, and praising God. His joy drew a crowd, and Peter seized the opportunity—not to elevate himself, but to preach Jesus. Peter quickly shifts the spotlight from the miracle to the Messiah. The power didn’t come from Peter or John; it came from Jesus. The man’s healing became a doorway for truth, conviction, and grace.
We may not possess silver or gold, but we have something far greater—the name of Jesus. His name brings healing to bodies, hope to hearts, and life to the dead. So today, give what you have. Offer kindness, speak truth, and carry the name of Jesus wherever you go.
Prayer:
Lord, I may not have much, but I have Your name. Help me to offer it with boldness, humility, and love. Use my life as a vessel of Your refreshing grace. Amen.
