Showers of Blessing

I will send down showers in season;

 there will be showers of blessing

 Ezekiel 34:26

God promises His people, “I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing” (Ezekiel 34:26). These blessings are not occasional drizzles but gentle, steady rains that soften the hard places in our lives. When Israel felt scattered, wounded, and leaderless, God assured them that He Himself would shepherd them—rescuing the lost, healing the injured, and strengthening the weak (Ezekiel 34:11–16). His blessings come as restoration, guidance, comfort, and peace—quiet, life-giving mercies that water the soul.

Jesus fulfills this promise when He declares, “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10), revealing that God’s blessings are not merely external gifts but the very life of Christ poured into His people. Abundant life is the overflow of His presence—hope rising in our discouragement, strength meeting us in our weakness, forgiveness covering our failures, and joy appearing in the most unexpected places. It is a life made whole by His nearness, sustained by His grace, and marked by the quiet assurance that the Good Shepherd is always working for our good. As Charles Spurgeon said, “God gives not drizzle but showers; not drops but floods of mercy.”

Dallas Willard reminds us that grace is “God acting in our lives to accomplish what we cannot do on our own,” a divine strength that gently meets us where our own efforts end. And often His grace falls like rain—soft enough to soothe the weary, steady enough to reshape the landscape of our hearts, and quiet enough to work in places we did not even realize were dry. His grace does not rush or force; it restores, nourishes, and slowly brings new life. Today, we lift our faces to the Shepherd who still sends “showers of blessing” on those who belong to Him, trusting that every drop carries His mercy, His presence, and His renewing power.

Lord Jesus, shower Your blessings upon us today.Refresh the dry places, heal the wounded places, and renew our weary hearts. Let Your mercy fall like rain, and lead us in the abundance of Your love. Amen.
