Scripture Reading: Isaiah 60:1–6
“Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.”
Isaiah 60:1
Isaiah’s vision is one of awakening and movement. God’s light rises not to remain hidden but to be seen, shared, and followed. “Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn” (Isaiah 60:3). From the very beginning, God’s purpose was never small or private. The glory that rests upon God’s people is meant to illuminate the world, drawing those who walk in darkness toward hope, truth, and life.
This prophetic vision quietly unfolds in the story of the wise men. Guided by a star they did not control but trusted, they journeyed across borders and beliefs toward the child in Bethlehem. Their pilgrimage echoes Isaiah’s promise: gifts carried from afar, hearts stirred by light, and worship offered to the One who would be a revelation to the nations (Isaiah 60:6). What began in Bethlehem was never meant to end there. The light of Christ shines outward, inviting all who are watching and waiting to come and see.
Isaiah’s call now reaches us as well. “Lift up your eyes and look about you” (Isaiah 60:4) is both an invitation and a responsibility. We are chosen not to cling to grace but to reflect it—to live in such a way that God’s light becomes visible again through mercy, humility, and faithful presence. As we walk in that light, our lives become signposts, quietly pointing others toward Christ, the true source of glory.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Open our eyes to Your light and our hearts to Your purposes. Let our lives reflect Your grace, so that others may be drawn to You.
Amen.
