Scripture:
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
—2 Corinthians 12:9
Reflection:
As the day draws to a close, take a moment to reflect on the sufficiency of God’s grace in your life. Paul’s words in 2 Corinthians 12:1-10 remind us that even in our weaknesses, God’s power is at work. Paul’s thorn in the flesh, though painful and persistent, became a channel for God’s strength to be revealed.
After experiencing extraordinary revelations, Paul was given a “thorn in the flesh”—a persistent source of weakness, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual. He pleaded with God three times to remove it, yet God’s response was not to take away the thorn but to promise: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
This answer transformed Paul’s understanding of his struggles. The thorn, rather than being an obstacle, became an opportunity for God’s power to shine through him. Paul realized that when he was weak, he was forced to depend completely on God. This dependence allowed God’s strength to work mightily in and through him, magnifying God’s glory.
We all face our own “thorns”—challenges that feel insurmountable. Yet, like Paul, we can trust that God’s grace is sufficient. His favor, sustaining love, and divine power meet us in our weakest moments. Our struggles are not pointless; they are opportunities to see God’s faithfulness and to grow in reliance on Him.
When prayers for deliverance seem unanswered, remember that God’s grace is enough. His strength sustains us, His love upholds us, and His power transforms our trials into testimonies.
Prayer Focus:
As you wind down your day, surrender your weaknesses to God. Acknowledge where you feel insufficient and invite Him to fill those gaps with His all-sufficient grace. Ask for the faith to trust in His sustaining power, even when challenges remain.
Closing Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your grace that is sufficient for every weakness I face. I surrender my struggles and limitations to You tonight, trusting in Your power to sustain me. Help me to rest in Your strength and to find peace in Your presence. Let my weaknesses be a testimony of Your faithfulness and love. Amen.
