Teach Me to Do Your Will

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God;

may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

—Psalm 143:10 (NIV)

Life presents us with a multitude of choices—some seemingly insignificant, others profoundly life-altering. Whether it’s deciding how to respond to a colleague or choosing a career path, each decision shapes our journey. In the midst of these choices, we often seek guidance to ensure we’re aligning with a path that brings peace and purpose.

The Bible offers timeless wisdom for navigating these decisions. Psalm 143:10 encapsulates a heartfelt plea: “Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.” This verse reflects a desire not just for direction, but for alignment with God’s will—a surrender of our own understanding in favor of divine guidance.

Trusting in God’s will requires humility and faith. Proverbs 3:5–6 advises us toTrust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.By seeking God’s will, we invite His Spirit to lead us, ensuring that our choices are rooted in righteousness and love.

In moments of uncertainty, let us echo the psalmist’s prayer, inviting God’s Spirit to guide our steps. By doing so, we find assurance that our decisions, big or small, are anchored in His perfect will.

Prayer:

Lord, in every decision I face, teach me to do Your will. Lead me by Your Spirit on level ground, that I may walk in paths of righteousness and peace. Amen.
