Blessed to Be a Blessing

“Declare his glory among the nations,

his marvelous deeds among all peoples.”

Psalm 96:3

Leadership is influence—whether in quiet conversations or on public platforms. As the African proverb says, “If you think you’re too small to make a difference, try spending the night with a mosquito.” Each of us shapes the world around us in seen and unseen ways. Psalm 96 calls all the earth to “sing a new song” and to declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples (Psalm 96:3). This is echoed in Isaiah 12:4–5: “Proclaim His name! Make His works known among the peoples… Sing to the Lord, for He has done glorious things.” Worship is not a private act—it is public proclamation. Our worship becomes our witness as we step into the calling to go and make disciples (Matthew 28:19–20), proclaiming Christ in every nation, tribe, and tongue.

This outward calling flows from an inward posture. Influence begins not with control but with surrender. The call to “worship the Lord in the splendor of His holiness” (Psalm 96:9) invites us to live holy lives that draw others into God’s beauty. The Great Commission in Mark 16:15 commands, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” Yet this mission begins with hearts that burn with reverence and joy. When we are inwardly transformed, our words, actions, and presence become instruments of grace. A kind act, a word of truth, or a quiet prayer may reach farther than we ever imagine.

Finally, influence is not just about presence—it is about proclamation. When we declare “The Lord reigns!” (Psalm 96:10), we confront idols and systems of injustice with the truth of God’s kingship. Psalm 96 ends in a crescendo of creation’s praise—fields jubilant, seas roaring, trees singing—for the Lord comes to judge with righteousness. Let our lives join in that praise. Let us plant good seeds, take faithful risks, and live as those who remember that “surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). May our worship, words, and work ripple outward—blessing others, glorifying God, and telling the world that Jesus is Lord.

Prayer:

Lord, send us out with praise on our lips and love in our hands. Teach us to worship You in spirit and truth, and to proclaim Your name among the nations. May our lives declare Your glory and make Your salvation known in all the earth. Amen.
