When Faith Is Mocked

“Do not be afraid of what they say or be terrified by them…

You must speak my words to them,

whether they listen or fail to listen.”

Ezekiel 2:6–7

Throughout history, God’s people have been mocked for their faith. Whether in ancient times or today’s secular world, the questions often sound the same: Do you really believe God is with you?” or “Isn’t faith just wishful thinking?” Such taunts aim to plant seeds of doubt and shame. But we are not alone in experiencing this. From the Israelites facing foreign invaders, to Jesus enduring ridicule on the cross, to believers today standing firm in hostile environments—faith has always attracted opposition. Yet it is in these very moments that our trust is tested and refined.

When we face impossible situations—whether in our health, relationships, finances, or inner battles—we are invited not to defend ourselves but to bring them before the Lord. Like King Hezekiah spreading the enemy’s mocking letter before God in the temple, we are called to spread our burdens, our fears, and our unanswered questions before Him in prayer (Isaiah 37:14–20). We don’t need to pretend we’re not overwhelmed. We simply need to be honest, surrendering what we cannot control to the God who still sees, hears, and saves.

Mockery and hardship do not mean God is absent—they often mark the ground where He is about to act. Though others may scoff, we walk by faith, not by sight. The impossible becomes a canvas for God’s power; the taunts become an invitation to deeper trust. As we wait for deliverance, we choose to believe that God is working even in silence. And so, we lift our eyes above the noise and rest in the truth that He is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1-3).

🙏 Closing Prayer

Lord, we come to You with the impossible situations that weigh on our hearts. In the face of mockery, doubt, and fear, we choose to trust You. Teach us to bring every burden to You and to stand firm in faith even when we are misunderstood or ridiculed. Strengthen us to wait on You, to trust in Your timing, and to glorify You even in the waiting. Amen.
