Keep Going

Persevering in Love

Trusting God for the Harvest

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”

Galatians 6:9-10

These verses encourage us to keep doing good, even when it feels difficult or unnoticed. Paul acknowledges that the work of kindness and love can be tiring, but he reminds us that our efforts are not in vain. God promises a harvest—His blessing and reward—if we remain faithful and don’t give up. This hope is beautifully reflected in Psalm 126:5: “Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy.”

Doing good is often a journey of small, daily choices, and it may involve sacrifices and challenges that bring tears along the way. But just as God brought joy and restoration to those who sowed in sorrow, He will bring fruit and joy to our lives if we persevere.

Eugene Peterson paraphrased Galatians 6:10 as, “Every time we get the chance, let us work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith.” This reminds us to begin where we are, loving and serving those around us—our family, friends, and church community.

Henri Nouwen wrote,What we do is less important than the love with which we do it.Even the smallest acts of kindness, done with love, can have eternal significance. When we trust God’s timing and sow faithfully, He promises to turn our tears into songs of joy.

Short Prayer:

Lord, strengthen us to keep sowing seeds of kindness, even when the work feels hard. Help us trust that You will bring a harvest of joy in Your perfect time. Amen.
